PLT Placement, Community Referral Service
Are you looking for a PLT Placement? Do you want to join a team that is passionate about social justice and helping others?
The Community Referral Service (CRS), which includes the Pro Bono Scheme is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, eager to learn, punctual, and has a strong desire to assist those who are unable to afford legal assistance.
The placement will give you exposure to a variety of areas of law including Family Law, Criminal Law, Child Care and Protection, Wills & Estates, Immigration, Civil Law and Administrative Law.
You will be joining a team who is responsible for the day-to-day running of CRS. This includes:
- Liaising with clients, callers, solicitors and barristers;
- Processing applications from individuals who have been refused Legal Aid and taking carriage of your allocated files;
- Drafting case summaries, conducting legal research and finding the applicable law; and
- Assisting the Pro Bono Solicitors with in-house matters and attending various courts.
We currently have two unremunerated positions available in CRS. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday and is suitable for someone who is looking to refine their legal skills and put theory into practice.
Experience is not essential for this role. We are a fun and dynamic team willing to take you on board and give you a well-rounded and enjoyable PLT placement.
You must also be able to commence work immediately for a minimum of eight (8) weeks if you are successful in your application.
The Law Society of New South Wales is committed to building and maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace, appointing the best person for the role and supporting diversity.
