White & Case

Calling all Japanese speaking law students - Summer Internship 2019

A summer internship is great way to obtain first-hand experience of what life is like at White & Case Tokyo. We offer a small number of internship positions for 10 weeks starting in May or early June. An allowance will be paid to support your internship and students are generally in their pre-penultimate year of their degree.

Summer internships provide an opportunity to play an active part in the life and work of our Tokyo office.  During the program, you will work within a number of practice groups alongside an associate and assist them with their work.  You will also be able to take part in the Tokyo office's formal training sessions and workshops.  You will receive continued support and feedback throughout the program.

In addition, we understand the importance of building your professional network.  There will be opportunities for you to socialise with our partners and associates at events and activities during your summer placement.

How to apply

Applications for the summer internship is via our website: whitecase.com/careers

We look for first-year and second-year students in a Juris Doctor (JD) program, or students in their penultimate year of legal studies in a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program studying outside Japan to apply for our summer internship.

It goes without saying that we expect academic excellence.  Your interest in us already suggests that you probably possess the ambition, drive and determination to live with the demands faced by a high-flying international lawyer. Language skills are important.  To work with our team in Tokyo, you need to be fluent in English as well as proficient in Japanese.

Given the small number of places, we encourage you to apply in advance of the deadline for early consideration of your application.  Interested candidates should submit an application with a cover letter, resume, transcripts and writing sample through our careers website before 15 February 2019.

If you have any questions about the program, or experience any problems with your application, please contact us at tokyo.intern.recruit@whitecase.com
